Brigham Young University (BYU) was established on October 16, 1875 and is the oldest institution included in the LDS Church Educational System. The president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Brigham Young purchased a building with hints that a school will be built there. However, the school only became a university after an approval was given by the board of directors. The idea was originally proposed by Benjamin Cluff Jr. as his final official act as head of the institution. Since then, the institution has continuously expanded into the recognized university it is today.
Degrees offered
Some of the degrees offered in BYU include Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, and First Professional degrees. Some of the most popular majors in the University include Accounting, Exercise Physiology, Finance, History, and Political Science.

These include members of Congress like Mike Crapo, Orrin Hatch, and William H. King. Stephenie Meyer, the author of the popular series Twilight, is also a graduate of the said University. Athletes like Rick Aguilera and Fred Roberts are also included in the BYU alumni roster.

Admission tips
If you want to be admitted to Brigham Young University, you have to start early preparing for it. Although high SAT scores are important, the fact is that it won’t be enough to get you admitted. If you’ve already made up your mind on this school, make sure that you get as much extracurricular activities as you can while still getting good grades. Hopefully, your school would have a good guidance teacher that could help you through the whole process. He or she will instruct you with the right choices to make to achieve your goal. Also, don’t waste your time going through the easy classes. The fact is that it’s better if you take the important ones and come out OK rather than excel on something that you don’t really need. If you have friends associated with the University, then you might want to ask them for pertinent tips. When applying, you might also want to check out if you are eligible for some scholarships. Make sure that you have prepared all the neccesarry documents prior to the application. This would include your transcript, SAT scores, and the application letter.
